Open Minds provides high quality support to clients suffering with a mental illness, intellectual disability or an acquired brain injury through a range of programs and tailored support services focused on the individual needs of each person.
Open Minds is a not-for-profit company limited by guarantee and a registered charity with the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission. The company is governed by a board of seven non-executive directors with a diverse range of skills and experience. His Excellency the Honourable Paul de Jersey AC, Governor of Queensland, is the Patron of Open Minds.
The Open Minds board wishes to recruit a non-executive director, specifically a clinical or allied health professional with significant mental health experience. This position is to add value to the board particularly with respect of ‘whole of life’ or continuum of care service delivery. The successful candidate will be expected to participate in the board’s Service and Clinical Governance Committee.
The board is seeking a director who has one of the following professional backgrounds:
An allied health professional, such as, a registered mental health nurse (and member of ACMHN), psychologist, therapist, social worker or health professional with significant experience or an expertise in providing support or clinical services to clients/patients in their homes or a health/psychiatric facility.
A general practitioner with significant mental health experience and an understanding of the interactions between primary health systems and community organisations; including the processes used to support clients with a mental illness who live in the community. Experience in supporting clients in a mental health facility would also be useful.
Candidates from Brisbane, far north Queensland and northern NSW are sought. All directors are required to have a genuine interest in the work of Open Minds.
Directors are remunerated according to the remuneration pool approved by members. This remuneration includes a base annual fee plus an additional loading for those directors who also chair a board committee.
