The primary purpose of the role is to provide a range of administrative and routine clerical services to support the achievement of the business unit's outcomes.
The Elsa Dixon Aboriginal Employment Program - Schools Based Traineeship is an initiative of the NSW Government, Department of Industry, State Training Services to encourage job opportunities and career development for Aboriginal people in the public sector.
Applications are open to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students entering into Year 11 in 2016, and studying towards Higher School Certificate (HSC).
Successful candidates must be willing to:
• complete the two (2) Year Traineeship
• undertake a Certificate II in Business Services
• complete a minimum of 100 days and 800 hours of paid on the job training (equating to one (1) day per week and part of your school holidays)
The on-the-job component also counts toward completion of your Higher School Certificate (HSC).

The positions are funded under the Elsa Dixon Aboriginal Employment Program which is an initiative of the NSW Government to encourage job opportunities and career advancement for Aboriginal people. This is a temporary role in accordance with the Government Sector Employment Act 2013 for a period of up to two years.
Targeted Questions
To apply candidates must submit a one (1-2) page covering letter which includes a response to the two (2) targeted questions below and an up-to-date resume which clearly details their skills and experience as relevant to this role.
1. Describe a situation where you have needed to utilise your interpersonal and communication skills to defuse a situation or achieve an outcome. What was the situation?
2. A Business Support Assistant is responsible for completing a range of administrative tasks on a daily basis. Can you describe some of the daily tasks or procedures? Including information, communication and technology applications?
Part of the assessment process may include additional online capability testing, skills testing or work samples in accordance with the new Government Sector Employment Act 2013, therefore you may be contacted to participate.
